RACE AGAINST TIME NEWS RELEASE, JUNE 2010

Bristol archaeologist Simon Cox, 39, will cycle from Land's End to John O'Groats in just six days! He will join a remarkable team of cyclists setting off on this massive challenge on Sunday 27th June, arriving at the far tip of Scotland on Friday 2nd July.

Now in its 7th year, The Race Against Time is the fastest group ride of the famous Land's End to John O'Groats route, taking just six days to cover 870miles, that's an amazing average of 145 miles each day. The riders will consume around 6000 calories each day, they will have ridden the equivalent of an Atlantic crossing during training, lost pounds in weight and will raise in excess of  £27 000 to help children and families affected by HIV/AIDS in South Africa. The name of the ride reflects the urgency with which the HIV/AIDS pandemic in South Africa needs to be addressed- both the needs of those already affected by the virus, and those who still have time to protect themselves.

The Race Against Time is organised by the Bishop Simeon Trust, with sponsorship from SportingBet, which covers the total cost of the ride, enabling the Trust to send all the money raised to South Africa, where it's most needed.
